ZUMBA started today!  The kids were "Kung Foo Fighting" and moving to the music; even Grandma joined in the fun.

Thanks to everyone who has ordered mums - order forms are available on the newsletter or from the office.

Walk-a-thon sponsorships are beginning to come in.  Don't forget to send out your letters.  If you don't know a student here, please sponsor a teacher or staff member - we will be walking also.  I REALLY WANT TO KISS A PIG and I know Father is anxiously awaiting THE PIE IN THE FACE. These things will only happen if we all work together and do our part.

I hope everyone enjoyed their three-day weekend and that you used those family reunions as opportunities to get sponsors for the Walk-A-Thon!
Remember, if every students gets at lease one sponsor, Mrs. Kirschner will KISS A PIG!  And, if we raise $9000.00 as a school, Fr. Gries will get a pie in the face!  Any student who brings in a sponsor will have a chance to be the famous pie thrower!

Walk-A-Thon is September 16th -- get those sponsors :)

Tomorrow will be two weeks into the school year already!  The kids and teachers are getting into a routine and we are moving forward with our school goals.  It is so awe inspiring to get to know the kids and their personalities.  As they become more comfortable with the new faces and ideas at school, they are beginning to come alive and are eager to learn.

Yesterday, a 3rd grade student brought a wonderful idea to me -- she wants to start a book club at school!  We met today to plan how we would do it and in the next few weeks, we will implement it!  If anyone knows of funds available for a book club, please let me know.  We will be working with the public library as well, but it would be nice to be able to give each student involved a copy of the book to keep.

Thanks to everyone for giving your time, treasures and talents to SMS!

First day!

We had a GOLDEN first day of school today!  Thanks to all the parents and teachers who helped made this first day successful.  One student told me, "This was the best first day ever!"  That is so nice to hear.  Another said, "What are we going to do next year?"  I am not sure, but it will be something fun!

We had a few crying students (and parents) a few scraped knees and some ketchup on shirts today, but all in all, it was very successful.

Thank you all for trusting us with your children.  I am looking forward to an amazing year!

Happy Tuesday everyone - I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather!
Can you believe that there are only 21 more days of summer break?  We are making some great plans for the 2014-15 school year and I am excited to see and meet everyone in just three short weeks!

Only one month until school :)

Wow - can you believe there is less than one month until school starts?  We have something very exciting planned, so tell your kids to look for something in the mail within the next two weeks.
Hint - "The suspense is terrible... I hope it'll last."  Who said that and in what movie???

Do something memorable this week!

Exciting Changes

Many changes will be seen and talked about when the students return to school on August 6th!  New carpet has been put in kindergarten and first grade rooms along with the upstairs hall and both stairwells, and new epoxy has been put on the first floor hall (thanks to PTA and the parish).

We received a grant from the Archdiocese for new teacher work stations, a new server, and wireless capability throughout the school!  This will enable use to use tablets and iPads moving forward.  Several of each have been purchased for use in the school this year!

Have your child look for a very special piece of mail in mid-July.  This is a clue to him/her about the exciting first day of school this year.
